The hospitality industry has faced a lot of challenges in the last decades. One of the most recent concerns in this industry focuses on the development of sustainable tourism, and the measures needed to be applied by all stakeholders to achieve this goal. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the tourists’ satisfaction and the efforts made by accommodation units from the mountain area to ensure a sustainable journey. In this regard, the authors used the five dimensions mentioned by Booking.com platform for describing a sustainable travel unit: Destination and community, Nature, Energy and greenhouse gases, Waste and Water. The results of this study show that not all the sustainable efforts made by the tourism industry from the mountain area affect the general score of tourists’ satisfaction or the value for money score. For example, if the hotels make efforts to create green spaces for their clients, this investment is not necessary a key factor for tourists, because the entire facilitation is placed in a green space, in the mountain area, nature itself being a factor that brings tourists in the analyzed mountain resort. Thus, this research may be considered a pilot study for analyzing the existing gap between the efforts made by accommodation units from the mountain area to ensure a sustainable journey and the tourists’ satisfaction.
