Appreciating Successful Growth Strategies: A Case of Omani Islamic Bank Using the Balanced Scorecard Approach
摘要
The rapid expansion of Islamic banks in recent years has sparked discussions regarding the viability and effectiveness of these institutions among policymakers and economists. In order to assess how effective Islamic banks are, this research will analyze the financial results of an Islamic bank in Oman from 2018 to 2022 by using the Balanced Scorecard, which was not previously researched. This novelty approach makes it clear to stakeholders that this industry frequently uses both financial and nonfinancial indicators to give investors performance information, and the banking sector should start using comprehensive performance measurement systems like the Balanced Scorecard assessing bank operations. Therefore, research of this kind is crucial and deserving of examination in the context of Oman’s Islamic banking industry. The purpose of this study is to identify the aspects that influence a bank’s performance from four angles: financial, internal process, customer, learning, and growth. This viewpoint, which includes both financial and nonfinancial data, will gauge how well each aspect is performing. The results show that Islamic banks are able to provide the substantial demand for Sharia-compliant financial services because they are better funded, are less risky, and have greater liquidity. The cultural affinity of populations with a majority of Muslims for Islamic banking products serves to support this attraction even more. The study concluded that the Omani Islamic Bank has continued to operate despite rising global interest rates, inflation, fluctuating currencies, and geopolitical unrest.
