Comparative Analysis of Phytochemical Evaluations of the Seeds and Leaves of Moringa oleifera Used for Nanoparticles

Moringa oleifera, commonly called the drumstick tree or the magical tree, is a plant that has many medicinal properties, such as antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antidepressant properties. The seeds of M. oleifera can be utilized as coagulants in the process of wastewater treatment. A protein derived from M. oleifera seeds has been proven to be successful in wastewater treatment, eliminating 99% of suspended particles while maintaining the pH of water. A protein in these seeds, namely the dimeric cationic protein, binds to contaminants and causes them to aggregate, facilitating their removal from the water. It is a water-soluble protein that has a net-positive charge and exhibits strong coagulation during water treatment. This chapter compares Moringa seeds and leaves, discusses their similarities and differences, converts them into nanoparticles, and provides a characterization of their nanoparticles. Their respective individual properties and purposes and the methodology carried out in this study are discussed in detail.
