Early Detection of Flood for Disaster Management Using Rapid Service Assessment

It is well known that a series of steps has to be implemented by organizations and individuals to prepare, contain and mitigate unexpected events. Flood detection is an important aspect of disaster management and mitigation, and its importance cannot be overstated. Floods are among the most devastating natural disasters that can cause extensive damage to infrastructure, property, and human lives. Flood detection systems usually plays a very important role to lessen the risk of flood-related damages and losses. The aim to implement pre-disaster, During disaster, post- disaster recovery efficiently. Flood monitoring system is used as an early warning system (EWS) for pre-disaster measure, flood-alert IOT monitor for disaster response and GPS and GSM for post- disaster recovery. The hardware components ESP- 8266 microcontroller, DHT 11 sensor, BMP-180 sensor aid in dynamically sensing variation in Humidity Temperature and atmospheric pressure. The variation is then processed by Blynk IOT which is a cloud-based infrastructure that provides secure and reliable connectivity between devices and the Blynk platform. As long as they're connected to a broadband connection, customers can do this to remotely access and control their devices from anywhere in the entire globe. Despite the fact that several strategies have already been examined with flood alerting techniques using raspberry pi. This paper enhances the research by using Arduino which holds several advantages. Furthermore, the research is augmented by performing and analyzing the variation of real time parameters in specific locations over consecutive days.
