Advancements in Biopolymer-Based Nanoadsorbents for Water Purification

In recent years, there has been accelerated and extensive industrial development concomitant with unprecedented environmental impacts on available water resources. There is a natural expectation that as the population increases, agricultural waste as well as agricultural pollution will increase. Bioadsorbents, such as cellulose, chitosan, and alginate, have been successfully used to remove some pollutants in the aquatic environment. This chapter covers an updated discussion involving the application of important biopolymers as effective nano-based bioadsorbent materials for the removal of pollutants in water.
