摘要

Nanotechnology plays a vital role in today’s research, particularly in the progress of release systems with lesser toxicity and better effectiveness than previous ones. These comprise metallic nanoparticles and biopolymeric nanoparticles (BPNs). Biopolymeric nanoparticles are formed chiefly because of advantages such as biocompatibility, biodegradability, and negligible toxicity but also because of the broad advantages of nanoparticles. Hence, as long as biopolymers are environmentally friendly–i.e., biodegradable and natural—they will garner immense interest from researchers owing to their manifold uses in biomedicine, such as for their antibacterial activity, drug delivery, etc. In this chapter, the authors address different methods, such as microemulsion, ionic gelation, and nanoprecipitation, including applications of biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles, especially in agricultural fields. This chapter presents both the primary and functional aspects of using nanoparticles.
