Research on Optimization of Drilling Parameters for Heterogeneous Formation Based on Genetic Algorithm

Aiming at the limitation of traditional drilling parameter optimization model in single objective optimization, this paper proposes a multi-objective optimization design model considering drilling cost and mechanical specific energy. The optimization of drilling parameters is realized by using genetic algorithm as the solution method. The results show that the genetic algorithm has good convergence and robustness in the multi-objective optimization problem through the actual drilling data in the south Sichuan working area. After optimization, the weight on bit and the speed have been significantly improved, increasing by 42.7 kN and 24.3 r/min respectively. In addition, the optimized drilling parameters significantly reduce the unit footage cost and the bit mechanical specific energy, and achieve high efficiency and low consumption of drilling operations. The research results have important guiding significance for making drilling design scheme.
