摘要

Road accidents are a major global issue that requires collective efforts to address effectively. As many countries ramp up initiatives to improve road safety, close collaboration is necessary to tackle common challenges and leverage best practices in this area. In this context, international benchmarking appears to be an essential tool for advancing road safety management. This study introduces a new six-step framework for road safety benchmarking. The proposed framework provides a structured approach to evaluate road safety initiatives in a designated country, through comparative analysis with other selected countries. The main goal is to identify areas for improvement and discover best practices that can be implemented in the country under study. To demonstrate the framework’s effectiveness and practicality, we applied it in real-world contexts. Through a practical case study, we showcase how the framework can guide decision-makers in implementing targeted initiatives to enhance road safety in the country being evaluated. In essence, this benchmarking framework offers a systematic way to learn from other countries’ successes and shortcomings, ultimately helping to improve road safety.
