摘要

This paper presents an optimization model to investigate the effects of incorporating Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) into power system operation. The proposed optimization model solves the power economic dispatch problem, minimizing power system operational costs; the model considers the operation of BESS, network constraints, transmission losses, and other factors, and is based on AC power flows. To evaluate the performance of the proposed optimization model, the 14-bus IEEE test system was used. The model was solved using the software General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS), considering different load demand scenarios and a 24-h period. The simulation results indicate that when BESS with capacities of 80 MW y 50 MW were incorporated into the test system, the system operational costs diminished from USD 196,675.53 to USD 188,656.58 (which represents savings of USD 8,018.95 during a day), and that BESS operation lasted on average 9 h. Furthermore, the results indicate that incorporating BESS into power systems is feasible, and that they can enhance power system operation.
