Optimizing Wind Farm Performance in Northern Morocco with Weibull Distribution

To optimize wind farms in northern Morocco, a validated approach based on the two-parameter Weibull distribution is used to assess the wind potential of a wind farm in TETOUAN over one year. With a total capacity of 120 MW and 40 turbines of 3 MW each, the maximum likelihood method is chosen to estimate the Weibull parameters, utilizing wind measurements taken every 10 min. Recalculated power densities, compared to actual measurements, reduce forecast errors, highlighting significant deficiencies in turbines WTG 30 and WTG 33 due to orientation issues. In conclusion, the use of Weibull and rigorous statistical analysis optimizes the performance of wind farms, crucial for the sustainable exploitation of wind energy in the region.
