The Impact of Foreign Direct Investments on the Renewable Energy Sector in Morocco: An Empirical Analysis of Their Role as a Lever to Enhance Attractiveness

摘要

In a context notable of an environmental crisis and aggravated geopolitical tensions relative to fossil resources, the question of energy transition emerges as a primordial and paradoxical challenge. The application of ecological norms can simultaneously act as a discouraging factor for investments associated with pollutant emissions, also drawing on alternative investment options. In this context, Morocco has incorporated the advancement of renewable energies by positioning them as a catalyst to attract foreign investments. The purpose of this article is examine the current relationship between the consumption of renewable energies and foreign direct investments in Morocco. In order to test the proposition of creating a connection between FDI and renewable energies, our analysis is grounded in an econometric study. We analyze the practical case of Morocco over the period from 1995 to 2020, depending on the Vector Autoregressive model as the methodological framework.
