Integrating Electronic Monitoring Systems with Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Management of Depleting Marine Resources

The depletion of living marine resources has emerged as a critical concern, necessitating the implementation of robust monitoring systems. This paper high lights the current state of surveillance systems, focusing on existing technologies such as Vessel Monitoring Systems (VMS) and Electronic Monitoring Systems (EMS). It further examines the potential of integrating EMS with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to strengthen the efficacy of resource management and ensure sustainable utilization of marine ecosystems. Additionally, this study presents a comprehensive analysis of the state of the art in AI methods applied in the field, especially for capture detection and fish identification, thereby providing insights into the most effective models for sustainable marine resource management.
