The Influence of SCM Practices on Port Supply Chain Performance

The complexity of global supply networks, the rise of consumer power, and technological development all have caused a clear change in the function and position of supply chain participants. The port, which is an essential component of these global logistic chains, has been largely influenced by some movements, particularly through the increased cooperation, mergers, and integrations. In this context, the organization in Supply Chain Management appears as an essential lever to improve port performance. Though port logistics chains are receiving more attention, the studies’ contributions remain modest compared to those made in other sectors, particularly the automotive and aeronautical industries. The majority of research on port supply chain (PSC) performance measurement focuses mostly on the internal performance measurement of port terminals. The objective of this paper is to study the influence of the organization in SCM on the performance of the port logistics chain’s performance and the constituent parts of a port network performance measurement tool. This article captures the PSC’s performance from a multidimensional vision, integrating a financial dimension, a commercial dimension, internal process, and learning and innovation. This article also has the advantage of integrating the perspectives of the various stakeholders. Based on the Khi-2, the majority of our research hypotheses are verified, leading to the assertion that the general hypothesis of our research is validated. Thus, the SCM organization influences the performance of the PSC.
