Port Value Chain Performance Evaluation and Modeling

In the maritime sector, improving a port’s performance is often a major challenge, not least because of the considerable costs involved in managing it. The aim of this paper is to present a new approach to improving supply chain performance for bulk traffic in the multipurpose traffic department. We based our approach on the Lean Six Sigma methodology deployed by the DMAIC approach. We began by identifying the scope of the project and the objectives to be achieved, then we collected all the measurements needed to assess the performance of the process. We then analyzed and identified all forms to improve the performance of the logistics chain for bulk traffic. We set up a control indicator to ensure the overall balance of the value chain.
