Quality-Based Decision-Making Using Image Processing for Supply Chain Management

The current progress and future possible developments in new age technologies have opened the opportunities to transform the existing supply chain system towards making it more effective and efficient. In this direction, one of the existing new age technologies, deep learning-based image processing models have proven to be key technology for enhancing the supply chain management. This paper discusses the role of image processing for quality-based decision making for supply chain management. In this regard, an image processing integrated supply chain system is proposed. The decisions related to procurement, pricing, storage and transportation can be taken based on the outcome of the image processing system i.e., quality of the product. Quality is the main factor that governs the buying tendency of the perishable product by the customer. Image processing provide valuable information to improve several SCM aspects, including inventory management, pricing, storage, and transportation. It will lead to effective management and optimisation of supply chain operations which are essential given the complexity and globalisation of supply chains. The integration of image processing with supply chain has the potential to completely transform supply chain operations, resulting in increased efficiency, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
