The Use of Classical Conditioning in the Treatment of Cancer

The classical conditioning described by Pavlov was originally studied mainly in the context of the activity of the digestive tract. Later, this research was extended to other organ systems. In 1975, Ader and Cohen (1975) demonstrated that conditioning can even be applied to the regulation of activity of the immune system, thus laying the groundwork for the emergence of a new scientific field, psychoneuroimmunology.
