Reducing the Negative Effects of Stress

The negative effects of mediators released during the stress response by the sympathoadrenal system and the HPA axis have now been described in more detail. Mediators such as norepinephrine, epinephrine, and cortisol exert stimulatory effects on both the initiation and progression of cancer. In addition, they also reduce the efficacy of anticancer treatment. Therefore, it seems desirable to limit their effects in primary, secondary, and tertiary cancer prevention (Yan et al. 2023).
