摘要

Burgeoning the world’s population up to 9 billion people by 2050 and this 45% increment in population from the current population will address difficulty for food and raw commodities demands. Crop improvementCrop improvement through breeding was once the primary method for lifting people out of poverty and increasing the global food supply. Advancement in traditional plant breedingPlant breeding approaches for improving the efficiency of agriculture through exploiting the principles of OMICOmics-assisted breeding and high throughput technologies to ensure the development of new plant genomes to survive in a rapidly changing environment. ProteomicsProteomics is a relatively innovative means that is apt for increasingly meant for the next progenies of plant breeders due to its ability to provide profound knowledge at the cellular level. ProteomicsProteomics is advantageous overall omicsOmics approaches as it considers post-translational modifications (PTMs)Post-translational modifications that review the efficient impacts of protein modifications regarding crop productivity. This chapter explores different proteomicProteomics techniques, recent innovations, and their uses in crop breedingCrop breeding. The purpose of this chapter is to take a snapshot of crop plant components impacted by various environment stresses (abiotic and biotic) through different proteomicProteomics techniques for designing stress-tolerant varieties.
