Recent years have shown that the effort for implementing analog integrated circuits (ICs) increases due to various reasons. In comparison to its digital counterpart, the analog design flow is pretty time-consuming and error-prone since it is mainly done manually. Therefore, electronic design automation (EDA) tools, focused on the analog parts, are necessary to speed up the process and reduce the demand for human experts. Since the release of the industry’s first open-source foundry process design kit (PDK) called SKY130, a movement to open-source IC design (OSIC) has been established. Many of the EDA tools and accompanying software packages provided by the OSIC community are digitally focused, and only a comparatively small part is geared towards the analogous part. This book aims at adding to the analog tool landscape by presenting the implementation details of an automatic open-source EDA tool for analog circuit layouts. This chapter first gives an introduction to the SKY130 PDK, used by the flow, and then to the design methodology.

摘要
