Effects of Propolis on Asthma
摘要
Allergens are foreign substances to the body and trigger an inflammatory response through IgE-mediated pathways. Those genetically predisposed to atopic dermatitis, a condition in which even low levels of exposure to environmental triggers cause the production of IgE antibodies, are more likely to have sensitization than the general population. Variations in living standards and exposure to different germs and viruses may explain why allergic sensitization is lower in Eastern Europe than in the West. The genesis and triggers of allergies have been associated with both genetic and environmental variables, such as air pollution, housing conditions, and other lifestyle factors. Propolis facilitates the proliferation, differentiation, and migration of human keratinocytes and includes many chemicals that hasten the skin’s healing process, including increasing its tensile strength and flexibility. Wound healing may benefit from these characteristics and metabolic alterations in propolis, which may encourage re-epithelization. Notably, there are several benefits to using propolis as a dressing for wound healing, including its low cost, safety, and absence of discomfort during application. It also helps avoid infections, promotes rapid wound healing, requires few dressing changes during recovery, and does not develop scar tissue.
