Propolis as an Antimycotic

According to the scientific literature, a substantial amount of evidence suggests that propolis exhibits antifungal characteristics. Propolis is susceptible to being influenced by changes in its chemical makeup, as has been demonstrated by previous research. This differential in antifungal action has been documented in several studies that have investigated the effectiveness of propolis originating from various geographical locations against a wide range of fungal species, particularly those of clinical significance. Propolis has been shown to possess antifungal characteristics, and these abilities have been proven against various fungal species, including Candida albicans, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, and Candida glabrata. It has been established that this chemical has an aflatoxigenic effect against fungi such as Aspergillus flavus, which has been discovered to inhibit the fungi’s growth in their conidia. The fungi that are responsible for the spoilage of juice, such as Candida famata, Candida glabrata, Candida kefyr, Candida pelliculosa, Candida parapsilosis, and Pichia ohmeri, are susceptible to the fungicidal actions of propolis. To be more specific, it was demonstrated that the presence of flavonoids was associated with fungicidal activity.
