Artificial Intelligence and Educational Broadcasting: Digitizing Higher Education (HE) in Nigerian Context

Educational broadcasting, traditionally associated with radio and television, has evolved with the advent of digital technologies and the Internet. This paper explores and bears the profound impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Large Language Models (LLMs) on educational broadcasting within the context of Nigeria’s Higher Education System. AI, particularly LLMs, has emerged as a transformative force in content creation, curation, personalization, and engagement within educational broadcasting. In addition, the pedagogical implications of AI and LLMs in this domain, such as generative multimedia production, adaptive content curation and broadcasting, AI- suggestive algorithms, AI-enabled content localization, and interactive AI/LLM systems were also discussed. In attempt to digitize educational broadcasting through deploying of AI and LLMs in Nigeria’s higher education, the paper suggests that broadcasting platforms should adopt and promote the integration of AI and LLMs for content creation, curation, and localization through the organization of workshops and seminars for all the implementers of curriculum content while considering ethical issues as critical aspect of AI integration in Nigeria higher educational systems.
