Promoting Educational Broadcasting in the Digital Era for Effective Teaching and Learning in Nigerian Schools

Educational institutions globally are witnessing a shank in the unproductive teacher talk and repetitive note taking which is accompanied by an era of “chalk and talk” teaching, and supported by the print media. It will therefore do the Nigerian schools system a lot of good by promoting the educational broadcasting media in the digital era, for effective teaching and learning process. This chapter will therefore examine the concepts of educational broadcasting, in promoting radio broadcast media for effective teaching and learning in Nigerian schools. It further looks at brief history of radio broadcasting, objectives of educational radio broadcasting; application of radio broadcasting in the classroom instructions, advantages and disadvantages of radio broadcasting in schools, and challenges of radio broadcasting in the digital era. Conclusion and recommendation are made.
