For the past few centuries, global warming and climate change have been major concerns for humanity. Rising temperatures year after year and rising sea levels have caused a lot of scientists to worry about our future. Humanity should try to reduce emissions from every aspect of our lives, and one of them is the maritime industry, which has been a major contributor to global warming. Georgia and the Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) are obligated to try and reduce pollutants under the Paris Agreement, and in order to reduce emissions by vessels in Georgian ports, the BSMA suggests implementing cold ironing or shore-to-ship power supply methods in Georgian ports. By doing so, we are hoping to reduce total CO2 emissions by ships docked in Georgian ports by 3.1 times, from approximately 3104 tons of CO2 while docking and using diesel fuel to only 1001 tons of CO2 using the above-named method.
