Armorica includes the whole of Brittany, plus western Normandy including the Cotentin peninsula. It is an area characterised by inland by rather monotonous landscapes, dominated by plateaux dissected by a drainage network often aligned with underlying geological features. In contrasts the coasts are spectacular, dominated by cliffs, offshore islands plus major depositional zones.
