Preventing Transmission of COVID-19 and Other Respiratory Infections in Otolaryngology Practices

Infections such as COVID-19, influenza, and tuberculosis primarily involve the respiratory tract. Early diagnosis of these infections and observing well-established infection control measures will prevent the spread of contagious infections in inpatient and outpatient otolaryngology practices. This chapter reviews the strategies used to prevent the transmission of several important respiratory tract infections in the healthcare setting.
