This chapter presents an overview of the concept of conviviality through diverse theoretical formulations which account for its programmatic aspects, as well as its mediated and mediating nature. The overview unfolds across different contexts and settings which address both individually and jointly, themes involving food, migration, and belonging: from dining tables to multicultural cities to inclusive design practices to the environmental arts and post-humanist thinking. It concludes by proposing the concept of “convivial foodscapes” as a relational lens through which to unpack the critical potential of the transformative agencies existing within and along more-than-human food-related networks.
