Post-procedural Antiplatelet and Anticoagulant Strategies

LAAC devices are thrombogenic and require post-procedural antithrombotic therapy. The majority of patients undergoing LAAC have some degree of contraindication to anticoagulation, complicating the decision to choose a specific regimen for post-LAAC antithrombosis. Early regimens based on VKA have been falling out of practice, while newer regimens including DOACs are becoming more popular. Multiple ongoing randomized trials will guide future recommendations.
