Concomitant Left Atrial Appendage Closure and Catheter Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation
摘要
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a highly prevalent arrhythmia accounting for significant morbidity and mortality. Rhythm control strategy by catheter ablation for AF reduce symptoms, hospitalization, stroke, and mortality in select populations. Notably, AF catheter ablation is a Class Ia recommendation in select populations of patients in the 2023 ACC/AHA/HRS Atrial Fibrillation guidelines. The left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is appropriate for non-valvular AF patients with high thromboembolic risk and contraindication for long-term oral anticoagulation, Class of recommendation IIa. The OPTION trial will assess the safety and the efficacy of concomitant AF catheter ablation and LAAO with a randomized controlled trial.
