“Rolling with Resistance” The Challenges of HEI in Police Education
摘要
The debate about the necessity and providence for higher education to be involved in police training continues, long after the College of Policing launch of the professionalisation routes in 2018. Where the police have managed to evade academic accreditation to their profession for many years, that resistance continues in pockets within the service, by some leaders and in the political sphere. For those who are attempting to deliver the programmes of study that form the current PCER (Police Constable Entry Route) curriculum, and for those students who are studying on them, this resistance creates a divide that is unnecessarily problematic. This chapter explores the concept of resistance and its impact on those involved in the delivery of the educational framework of evidence-based policing pedagogy.
