摘要

The presented work analyses the asymptotic behaviour of self-similar (fractal) traffic “speech—video—data—mobile subscribers” (Quadruple Play), characteristic of industrial networks. The characteristics of regular and “impatient” requests and the requirements for network resources are considered. It is shown that the network capacity must be significantly greater than the maximum expected traffic intensity. Accordingly, the network utilization factor should be less than one. It has been established that the margin of the network utilization factor for the case of self-similar traffic should be even greater than for ordinary traffic. Formulas are derived and corresponding graphs are constructed to take into account the loss of useful throughput of network switching nodes. The characteristics of regular and “impatient” requests are analysed, i.e. requests with a limited lifetime. It has been established that with a high intensity of incoming service requests (compared to the intensity of servicing incoming requests), the number of discarded “impatient” requests increases and, consequently, the number of resubmitted service requests increases. Useful bandwidth is used less and less efficiently, as the network begins to work as if “for itself.” Recommendations are given for organizing network management and combating overloads.
