Addiction Counseling

There is a pressing need for counselors to assist in providing quality substance and addictive behavior treatment and related servicesService in response to the growing national mental health crisis. Counselor education programs can provide a CACREP addiction track of study using a social justiceSocial justice framework to help meet this need. This chapter will serve as an easy-to-follow guide for how to initiate a CACREP-aligned addiction track. We will use current literature, CACREP standardsCACREP standards, and practical examples to demonstrate how counseling programs can offer an addiction counseling track for CITs.
