The Promotion and Tenure Process

This chapter describes the tenureTenure process and uniquely attends to contingent appointments, historically marginalized faculty, and teaching. Authors contextualize the tenure process by providing a case scenario and conclude the chapter with four strategies to consider during the tenure process: (a) provide course release for hidden labor, (b) provide formal and informal opportunities for mentorshipMentorship, (c) supportSupport affinity spaces, and (d) develop racial and gender capacity-building opportunities.
