摘要

This chapter introduces some of the fundamental challenges and obstacles international counseling learners and CES face as they navigate the field of counselor education and academia in the United States. The authors share their personal experiences, lessons learned, and recommendations for other learners, faculty, and administrators, supported by current literature in this area. The authors suggest the use of two diversityDiversity models to increase self-awareness of multicultural sensitivities in working with international individuals by understanding their unique needs and barriers and by acknowledging their own and systemic stereotypes, assumptions, and biasesBias.
