Finding and Landing the Job

This chapter addresses successful job-seeking and interviewing strategies for new graduates seeking their first position as a professor in higher educationHigher education. The typical job process in higher education begins a year before graduation. In doctoral programs, you are trained to become a scholar in the field, and minimal attention is given to the job search process. In this chapter, we focus on three core areas to land the job you want: Mindset, Finding (the job), and Landing (the job). We hope to prepare you as doctoral learners to understand the importance of your mindset with regard to securing employment. Furthermore, we share helpful guidelines to utilize before submitting your application. Lastly, we conclude with a detailed explanation of the interview, negotiation, and onboarding processes.
