摘要

This chapter will draw together the findings of this volume, by presenting a series of key themes that have been identified by the co-authors. These themes are: The Stigmatisation, Labelling and Criminalisation of Mental Health; Silences (Gaps) and Collusion; The Mental Health and Well-Being of Those Who Are Confined; The Covid-19 Challenge to Carceral Design; Redesigning Carceral Misery as Business; and That Which Is Designed, can be Undesigned. Links between the co-authors’ research will be drawn, to provide a richer and more cohesive understanding of each theme. Each theme will also offer recommendations for positive, socially progressive changes to the criminal justice system, as well as practical solutions for improving the support and help provided to these vulnerable individuals, groups and communities with mental health problems.
