The cement industry ranks first among energy-consuming industries in terms of absolute consumption (Sousa et al. Sousa: V., Bogas, J. A., Real, S., Meireles, I., & Carriço, A., 2023. The overall cost of energy (thermal and electrical) accounts for 30 to 40 percent of the total cost of cement manufacture.
