Due to the world's rising population, coupled with the increasing energy demands and concerns about global warming, new alternative energy options with a low carbon footprint are being sought. Furthermore, the grave threat of global warming caused by greenhouse gases and the depletion of commercially available conventional fossil fuels restricts their use.
