HayleyWorld is the interactive digital biography—or zoeography—of William Hayley that Lisa Gee made with developer Michael Kowalski for the creative practice element of her PhD in Digital Writing by Practice. As she explains below, it was a project first, a PhD second, designed to explore whether a digital biography could mimic the experience of getting to know someone in real life. This chapter is a condensed and rewritten version of the critical component of the PhD that accompanied the creative work.
