Indigenous/Traditional Education of Africa

Every community has its own system of education. Indigenous/traditional education in Africa is among them—predates the colonial period. This chapter focuses on how African indigenous knowledge (IK)/traditional knowledge (TK) is conceptualized and utilized. It specifically focuses on modes of African traditional education, research endeavors on African traditional/indigenous education, and successes and challenges of promoting indigenous knowledge systems (IKS). It also overviews challenges of African indigenous knowledge systems and the impact of Western education on African indigenous/traditional education. Finally, the analysis of data is part of this chapter.
