The Practice of Bridging Science and Policy

So far, this book has mostly provided an abstract and theoretical treatment of SPI(s). When addressing more practical aspects, for instance, governance challenges (Sect. 3.5 ), I have opted for a general approach rather than a specific focus. However, in order to get insight into how science and policy are bridged in practice, it is beneficial to zoom in on individual SPI cases. An exposure to SPI practices is essential to understand them and problematize them. Moreover, conceptual and theoretical development cannot meaningfully advance without contact with SPI empirical manifestations.
