摘要

Globalisation is a significant part of contemporary life, and its influences on second language (L2) identity have been profound and diverse. L2 identity affects learner behaviours related to L2 learning as well as attitudes towards L2 learning and those who speak the target language. This book has undertaken the task of discussing ways in which globalisation influences L2 identity, the opportunities and challenges globalisation has brought to L2 identity, and the dilemmas of L2 identity in facing globalisation. Discussions on how L2 autonomy has been influenced by globalisation and the requirements for transformation of learners and teachers have been included. One major conclusion of this book is that globalisation has called for moral education for L2 identity. Future endeavours, whether on theoretical development, pedagogical advancements, or research on L2 identity, should put due consideration on morality.
