Service Supply Chains in Disruptive and Uncertain Markets

In Chapter 2, the concept of service is introduced, with a particular focus on the complex nature of supply chain interconnections and the unexpected and disruptive events that affect them. This chapter begins by highlighting some of the most common disruptions in recent years and discussing trends for the future. It then explains the concept of service as a product and expands this concept by introducing the service industry. Finally, the chapter explains the service supply chain through different models and highlights some of the challenges faced by service supply chain (SSC) members during disruptive events.
