Chiron’s Place

This chapter describes the known planetary systems in the sector of the sky that includes the nearest stellar system, Alpha Centauri. The overarching theme is the mythological background of the large constellation Centaurus that dominates this sector. We detail the possible climate of a planet circling the nearest star, Proxima Centauri. The diverse, multi-planet system of Wolf 1061 is described, along with the planets of GJ 667C, whose innermost worlds are likely to suffer from intense tidal heating.
