Green Jobs and Social Rights: A Case Study on the Formalization of Waste Pickers in Latin America

摘要

The starting point for understanding the discussion presented in this study is found in the capital productive restructuring process that began in the 1970s. The rise of a flexible accumulation pattern and the implementation of neoliberal policies caused a complex reorganization in the interactions between labor and capital, specifically affecting the organization of workers involved in the collection and selection of recyclable materials, known more broadly in Latin America as recicladores de base (waste pickers).
