摘要

Virtual Reality (VR) has significantly transformed psychological research, treatment, and education. This paper reviews major discoveries and innovations facilitated by VR, highlighting its efficacy in treating anxiety, PTSD, and phobias through controlled, realistic simulations. VR’s ability to create immersive environments allows for gradual desensitization in a safe context, offering new therapeutic possibilities. Notably, VR-based exposure therapy has demonstrated effectiveness in reducing symptoms of acrophobia and PTSD in war veterans. Beyond clinical applications, VR enhances educational outcomes by providing multisensory, interactive learning environments that improve student engagement and information retention. VR also plays a pivotal role in simulating complex clinical scenarios for training future mental health professionals. Furthermore, VR’s integration with mindfulness techniques has shown promising results in managing grief and emotional loss, promoting psychological well-being through immersive, calming environments. Technological advancements, including AI and haptic feedback, have made VR more accessible and realistic, enhancing its therapeutic potential. Despite challenges related to accessibility, standardization, and ethical considerations, VR offers a powerful tool for advancing psychological practice and research. Future exploration of VR’s integration with other therapeutic modalities and continuous technological evolution hold immense potential for improving mental health treatments and understanding cognitive and emotional processes.
