Police Information Management and Public Trust
摘要
Managing information is a fundamental requirement in emergency services organizations, including law enforcement agencies (LEAs). LEAs must be attentive to how their information management strategies affect public perceptions of police legitimacy given the consequences of such attitudes on behaviours such as willingness to cooperate with police. Drawing from procedural justice research and the evidence-based policing movement, we offer suggestions for building information management strategies that consider the people, processes, and tools used to manage information, with particular attention to improving public perceptions of police legitimacy.
