Nanobiostimulants and Sustainable Crop Production

摘要

The primary goal of conventional farming techniques was to increase plant growth, as a result of the heavy application of fertilizers and various synthetic chemicals like pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, etc.; it gradually became a reason for soil ecology exploitation and destruction. These reasons compelled to develop means of sustainable agriculture, which has so far been beneficial in restoring the balance of the soil ecology by minimizing the use of synthetic fertilizers and chemicals. Consequently, sustainable agriculture can be seen as a promise of a brighter future for environmentally friendly farming. Through enhanced tolerances to various biotic and abiotic stresses, efficacy in nutrient uptake and use, and improved, high-quality yield, nanobiostimulants have been able to positively impact crop production. This has been made possible by the proper and planned application of nanobiostimulants. Nanobiostimulants are nanoparticles (NPs) and nanomaterials (NMs) substances that, when used minimally, may boost crop production, since they promote plant development at specified concentrations, typically at low levels. This chapter will help to comprehend the role of nanobiostimulants in sustainable agriculture, concerns regarding the potential necessity of sustainable agriculture, and their precise efficacy in achieving high agriculture productivity to pave the path of sustainable development.
