Inelastic Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering on Iodine Nuclei

This chapter presents a preliminary analysis of COHERENT’s NaI Neutrino Experiment (NaIvE). It starts by discussing the motivation for studying this process, and then jumps into a description of the NaIvE detector. An overview of signal predictions with MARLEY are presented, as is a non-final analysis of the NaIvE data. Minor changes were made to the analysis between the publication of this thesis and the unblinding of the detector data. The results from this measurement through March 2022 can be found in P. An, et al., (Phys. Rev. Lett. 131, 221801 (2023)).
