Neutrino-Induced Neutrons on Lead and Iron Nuclei
摘要
This chapter presents a preliminary result from COHERENT’s lead-target neutrino-induced neutron (NIN) detector. It presents the motivation for studying these interactions, both as a background for COHERENT’s CEvNS detectors and as a fundamentally important process for supernova neutrino detection and nucleosynthesis. The neutrino-induced neutron detectors were designed by Grayson Rich, and an overview of that design, along with the data acquisition settings, are presented. The signal predictions for the lead NIN detector were generated using the MARLEY event generator, which are described, along with the preliminary result of the lead NIN cross section from this detector. The final results are available in P. An, et al., (COHERENT Collaboration), Phys. Rev. D 108, 0712001 (2023).
